Everyone is familiar with the phrase “Follow Your Heart”. But should we always listen to our heart. Could it possibly be better to listen to our guts instead? Our guts tell us a lot of things.
We get this funny feeling in the pit of our stomachs that there that something is not right in our relationship. The problem is, our heart then grabs a megaphone and starts screaming “Don’t listen to your gut, listen to ME instead”. Well, your heart is an idiot. You heart already took over for your brain and now wants to silence your gut as well.
Your gut may see the writing on the wall, but your heart grabs a can of spray paint and covers the writing with “BUT I LOVE HIM” until the writing on the wall is completely covered in nonsense. It is time to silence that loud heart of yours and start listening more to your gut.
Those feelings you get, those twinges of unpleasantness, are your instincts warning you for a reason. It is your body’s way of raising a red-flag so you can avoid danger. Your heart, being the idiot that it is, likes to throw caution to the wind, even though it knows when the heart breaks, it hurts worse and takes longer to heal than any other physical injury.
Many women I have spoken to, in retrospect, wish they had listened to their gut because it would have saved them a lot of wasted time, energy, effort and hurt feelings in the long run. If you want to listen to your heart, make it a part of a group, and not a solo artist. Your heart, brain, and your gut will tell you everything you need to know, and you need to listen to each and every one of them.
